If you put the Fiat 500X into a line-up with all of its cousins, it would feel like the family wedding where everybody is related, but one distant cousin towers above the rest. Sitting at 350 liters, the 500X has quite an impressive boot space capacity. However, in true Jeremy Clarkson fashion, we need to see how it stacks up against the competition, and whether anything has changed since its first generation.
When it comes to the 500X boot space, no matter whether you're walking down memory lane with its first generation model up to 2018 or hopping onto its facelift version, you will always find 350 liters of boot space cheering you on. When those rear seats are folded, both generations gloriously offer 1000 liters of trunk size. No wonder everyone at the boot party is raving about it.
However, when we bring the 500X to the land of the Fiats, it finds itself somewhat on the bleachers. Models such as the Fiat Tipo with 440 liters, the Fiat Tipo Kombi commanding 550 liters, and the monstrous Fiat E-Dobló with 775 liters make it seem smaller in comparison. Though fear not, our lovely 500X still outpaces the likes of the Fiat 500 and the Fiat Panda, both lagging behind at 185 liters and 225 liters, respectively. So the tall distant cousin might not be the tallest in the family after all, but definitely still holds its head high.
Now, let's see how our esteemed 500X compares to the rivals outside the Fiat family. While it laughs at the mere 350 liters of the Peugeot 2008 and the Mazda CX-3, the 500X bow in respect to the colossal powers of the Ford Puma at 456 liters and the Honda HR-V with 431 liters. It finds itself neck-and-neck with the Jeep Renegade offering 351 liters, but what comes as a surprise is the stunning victory it claims over the Nissan Juke which only manages 354 liters. The 500X boot space may not be the biggest in the whole wide world, but it does manage to claim some pretty remarkable victories.
