SpatialCapture Support

Record video, calibrated camera movement and selected sensors together. Export a documented package for Blender, external reconstruction agents or other desktop tools.

Device requirements

Recording requires an ARKit world-tracking iPhone or iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. LiDAR is optional. A standard device records video, a calibrated pose for each accepted video frame, motion sensors and optional GPS. A device with a rear LiDAR Scanner also records measured scene depth and confidence. The current recorder uses an available HD ARKit format, preferably 30 FPS; it does not capture 120/240 FPS slow motion.

Record and export

  1. Choose optional sound, motion sensors and GPS location, then tap Continue to camera. Grant the permissions you want to use.
  2. Aim at a textured, still scene and move slowly until tracking is ready.
  3. Tap Record, move around the subject for several views, then tap Stop. A red recording indicator stays visible during capture.
  4. Open the folder button. Export ZIP shares video and reconstruction data; Share video shares the movie only.

The ZIP includes a README and a Blender Python importer. Unzip it on your computer and follow its instructions. Every take can create an animated camera. A LiDAR take can also create measured surface patches; a pose-only take contains no measured geometry. The importer does not automatically produce a clean or watertight finished model. AI agents are optional external tools and are not included or connected by this app.

Common questions

No GPS fixes: enable GPS and location permission; a fix may take time or be unavailable indoors. Approximate Location provides reduced accuracy. GPS adds geographic context and does not improve room-scale depth accuracy.

No depth files: this is expected on devices without LiDAR. The ZIP still contains video, calibrated frame poses and enabled sensor streams for external workflows.

Missing or noisy surfaces: on LiDAR devices, move slowly, keep subjects still, and capture several angles. Glass, reflective materials, moving subjects, direct sunlight and distant surfaces can cause unreliable depth. Unseen surfaces are not measured.

Recording stopped: backgrounding, interruptions, critical device temperature or low storage stop the take to preserve available files. Interrupted takes remain available for export and may contain an incomplete video.

Delete a take: use Files → On My iPhone/iPad → SpatialCapture → Takes. Deleting the app removes local recordings and cached export archives. Shared copies and backups are managed separately.
