So, you fancy yourself a Jeep Avenger, do you? Well, you're in luck because the latest chariot from the stalwart brand that's as American as apple pie – or a cheeseburger with a side of FREEDOM – brings a respectable boot space to the Great Outdoors table. We're talking about a 355-litre boot that's more than adequate for your average bear, and quite a lot of picnic baskets too! But, is it just a fancy overgrown shoebox or can it actually swallow enough luggage for a family adventure? Let's don the wellies and wade through the nitty-gritty of the Jeep Avenger’s cargo credentials.
There hasn’t been much time for the Jeep Avenger to gallivant through generations since it's spanking new as of 2023, with no previous ancestors to compare it to. So, one could say it's at the dawn of its boot space evolution. The Avenger comes with 355 litres of storage muscle which, with a flick of wrist and a fold of seat, expands tremendously to 1252 litres. That’s enough room to chuck in your clobber for wild weekenders or cross-continental quests with the troupe.
But let’s not shilly-shally and get right to the point. Compared to its Jeep siblings, the Avenger holds its own with finesse, flaunting a more generous boot than the Wrangler's cramped 203 litres – or as I like to call it, 'pretty appalling really'. Sitting at the tail end of the spectrum is the Grand Cherokee majestically strutting 533 litres and the Wrangler Unlimited with a bulkier 548 litres. Between you and me, however, the Avenger strikes a fine balance – it's like the Cinderella of the Jeep range, neither too small nor too gaudy.
What about if we look beyond the kinfolk? Let's take the SEAT Toledo, the quite roomy chap with its 500-litre boot which frankly dwarfs the Avenger. Or the CUPRA Formentor, perched at 420 litres, which gives you a bit more legroom compared to the Avenger. Fling in the likes of the Alfa Romeo Tonale and Renault Arkana with 500 and 513 litres respectively, and you’ll realize the Jeep Avenger is somewhat of a middleweight champion in this contest of cubic capacity. It may not have the towering amplitude of a Toyota Highlander's 241-litre boot when all seven seats are up (which is sort of pitiful), but it stands tall enough to look many a rival in the eye without flinching.
